Hammond School pupils experience local business

Many pupils from Hammond School recently had the opportunity of visiting 8 Lightwater businesses. They were taken behind the scenes by the owners to see what happens in the “back shop”.

Many people are unaware that that George Arthur Butchers make their own sausages or that David Martin does not just run a  jewellery shop but is a highly qualified silversmith and goldsmith who makes many customised items.

The children also found out more about many other local businesses – Cook, Carson & Co, Duffy’s Budgens, georges, Lightwater Pharmacy and the Parish Council

You can see a photo gallery of the visits here

Many thanks to the owners of these businesses for giving up their time to show the children round. The event was organised by Mike Duffy and the Lightwater Business Association
